Meet the guy in charge of ‘smooth sailing.’ As design coordinator and watch captain, Brad Jackson oversees the synchronization of design strategy and team strategy.

“It’s important for me to understand the team and the team to understand how we reach our decisions so they know how to better use [the boat]. I collect data from our sailing experiences and filter it into the design.”

Named New Zealand Sailor of the Year in 2009, Jackson has sailed the Volvo Ocean Race five times, numerous Sydney-Hobarts, Fastnets and Trans-Atlantics.  Brad is one of two people in the world to have won the Volvo Ocean Race three times (onboard New Zealand Endeavor and ABN AMRO ONE).  Jackson was a member of the Ericsson 4 boat that won the VOR 2008-2009 and has been part of three 24-hour monohull speed records.

When Jackson isn’t chasing grams (right down to low-weight paints for the boat exterior), he enjoys spending time with his wife and three young sons at their beach in Coromandel or watching the kids play soccer.
