Jamaica International Invitational

Although the Jamaica Invitational has always been a great meet for track fans in Kingston, it's now become one of the most anticipated meets on the International calendar. Thanks, of course, to Usain Bolt and the success of Team Jamaica at the 2008 Olympic Games. But it was Bolt who put the meet on the map in 2008 when he blazed to a 9.76 100m, the second-fastest time ever run. That piqued the attention of journalists around the world. Of course, it was only a few weeks later that he broke the World Record in New York City, running 9.72 and kicking off the Usain Bolt Show. Since Beijing it seems everyone wants to have the Jamaicans in their meets. But this year it's the International athletes who want to come down to Kingston to experience one of Jamaica's only professional track meets. The JAAA has received numerous calls from agents and athletes asking for a lane in the meet. So this year's edition should again server as a precursor of what's to come this summer season.
