Suede Launch Cape Town & Introducing PUMA X Shelflife

On Friday the 1st of October, Shelflife will be hosting the official launch of the Puma Suede in South Africa! The Suede made its first appearance in 1968 at the Mexico Olympics, and has grown from strength to strength ever since. Its roots lie deep in the heritage of street and hiphop culture ever since it was adopted by B-boys in the mid 70?s. In South Africa the Suede played a big part in the mid 80?s in the skate scene being the most hard wearing flat bottom sneaker.

This takes me back to my best Puma story: A few years back (2002) when Puma kicked up their marketing and was the in-shoe again, I was wearing a pair and a group of us started discussing the return of Puma. One of my friends, not the sharpest guy, suddenly blurts out "Ja I dig those shoes hey. Such a lekker animal on it. What's it? A jaguar?". We have mocked him ever since.
