Sweat Pretty Hits the Beach for a Fireman’s Workout
You don’t have to be a firefighter to train like one, or so they say on the home page for Beach Fire Boot Camp. Hmmm … One thing is for sure; this workout will incinerate any caloric indiscretions and fire-up your metabolism with cardio drills and body-weight moves. Some of the modified moves are taken from real firefighter training, like running with a 50 ft hose. Others are a really good way to blast stress while building your core—that would be pounding a tractor tire with a sledge hammer. Yes! Oh yeah, and you do it all under sunny skies on a sandy beach. It’s a hardcore, full-body workout with lung-searing cardio but it is worth every single drop of sweat equity.
Sweat Pretty Conquers the Stand Up Paddle Board
OK, in the realm of fun fitness, “fun” is a major part of stand-up paddle boarding (or SUP as the regulars call it). Oh, there’s plenty of fitness, too. As with any paddle sport, you’ll be using the large muscles in your arms, back, and shoulders. Since you are balancing while standing, you’ll also be engaging your core like crazy. The thing is, it’s so awesome—being out on the water, hanging with your girls, soaking up the sun— that it won’t feel like working out (until the next day). Once you’ve mastered the technique, you can burn some serious cardio on that board or just cruise around and chill. That beats an indoor rowing machine any day.
