Johan Djourou was born in Abidjan in Ivory Coast, but he moved in Switzerland with his family when he was 15. He became part of Arsenal Academy and started his career against Manchester United in 2004. He was loaned to Birmingham in 2007. After that he returned to Arsenal but he was injured from 2009-2010, so his ascension to success came to an abrupt halt. He made a comback in 2010, playing nearly every match. He is also member of the Swiss National Team where he has played 26 matches and scored 1 goal.
