Right Man for the Job

Football up-and-comer Phil Jones has started off on the right foot. He began his career with the Blackburn Rovers’ youth team in 2002. He signed with the senior team for the 2008 season, and players and fans alike took notice of his self-assurance and team commitment. In 2011, Manchester United signed Jones because they saw him as a future leader for the team. At 19, Jones has already won one trophy: the FA Community Shield in August 2011. He was also selected in the England National Team U-21. Now back to the right foot: when he plays away, he puts his right sock on first and steps onto the pitch with his right foot first (because the away team is written on the right). If he plays at home, he starts with the left. Call it superstition or call it science. Whatever it is, we encourage Jones to keep it up.
