A trained meteorologist, Tom Addis joins PUMA as Navigator after sailing with Telefonica Blue during the Volvo Ocean Race, taking two leg wins. Tom has sailed thousands of offshore miles onboard Rosebud and Alfa Romeo, winning both Sydney-Hobart and Transpac races. Addis also worked as a meteorologist with America’s Cup Team New Zealand in 2007.

For this race, he looks forward to working with his new ‘family’ in an honest, candid, and egoless environment. But that doesn’t mean he won’t miss his family back home.

“I’m going to miss getting up in the morning to find that we are out of milk, chucking one of our kids on my shoulders, and singing songs as we walk to the shop to get some more—it’s the simple things you miss when at sea.”

Addis spends his spare time building timber boats, being sarcastic, and plotting how to smuggle his 25kg espresso machine on board mar mostro.
