Carrick Shows who’s Boss in Champions League Win

The talismanic midfielder was composed from start to finish and had a hand in the game’s only goal which was scored on 24 minutes. Carrick who sprayed the ball around all evening, put in a pinpoint pass in the lead up to the goal, the decisive moment of the night.

After Carrick and co went 1-0 up they continued to dominate the game and were in the ascendancy for large parts, with their opposition finding it tough to break through. Whenever the hosts did manage to get the ball into a dangerous area, they were denied by the woodwork or the impressive Nemanja Vidić, who was on hand to snuff out any chances.

As the game wore on, Carrick and Vidic found themselves increasingly on the back foot, but they stood firm and managed to frustrate their opponents with a courageous display that means they will look forward a lead in the second leg where they will be on home turf.

In the return leg Michael Carrick will be looking to play his usual game and unlock the opposition defence with his accurate long distance passing. If he sees enough of the ball, we think he, along with team-mate Vidic, will have no trouble progressing.
