International Preview: Faroe Islands Vs. Italy

As PUMA Football’s Italy continue their quest to qualify for Europe’s biggest tournament in Ukraine and Poland next year, we survey their prospects against the minnows from the North Atlantic.

Italy remain unbeaten in six after impressive victories against Estonia, Serbia and the Faroes (in the home fixture) and look set to top the group well before their final game in November.

Tomorrow they will take on a nation of approximately 49,000 people in the Faroe Islands. Having only become a member of football’s governing body in 1988, they have never reached the finals of a major tournament and will be hungry to regain some pride after a 5-0 whitewash in Florence back in September.

Cesare Prandelli's men look set to start with just one change from the team that dispatched the Spanish world champions earlier this month and will expect nothing less than an emphatic win to edge them closer towards qualification. Counter-attacking football will be key as the Italians look to unleash a raft of deadly attacking options.

PUMA’s ever-present Italian number one, Gianlugi Buffon, will also be keen to improve an already impressive goal-stopping record having conceded just one in the qualifying campaign so far.

Do you think the Italians have what it takes to reach the summit of Europe next summer?
