The Premiership and Serie A seasons both came to a close over the weekend and whilst the champions had already been crowned, there were a few more twists and turns during the final 90 minutes of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur
The Spurs squad had the luxury of knowing that their destiny was within their own hands as they entertained the blue side of Birmingham and the White Hart Lane faithful were treated to an entertaining second half that saw Spurs grab a winner in injury time - to relegate the visitors as the game finished 2-1. Spurs have enjoyed something of a mixed season, recording a famous victory at the San Siro, only to go and win twice more in the following 14 games. Nonetheless, we’re backing them for success next season – are you?

Newcastle United
The Geordies went into the last game of the season with little more than pride to play, but that didn’t stop them turning on the magic to go 3-0 up after 49 minutes. However, the Baggies who sat one spot above of Newcastle in 11th place staged a remarkable comeback that began on the hour mark and was complete with virtually the last header of the game. It’s been an action packed season for Newcastle and the St. James Park crowd will be hoping to build upon their successful first season back in the Premiership. Who would you like to see arrive of the summer?

S.S. Lazio
Lazio signed off in style with a resounding 4-2 victory in Lecce, however it was not enough to claim the coveted 4th Champions League spot as results conspired against the Rome based side. Although Lazio finished in 5th place, the legions of fans who pack out the Stadio Olimpico on a weekly basis will look back on another successful campaign with the emergence of several promising players. Who’s been your Stadio Olimpico star?

Elsewhere in Serie A, PUMA Football hotshot Samuel Eto’o could not add to his impressive tally for the season as his side recorded a 3-1 victory. Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini were both in action as their side were held to a 2-2 draw, with Chiellini bagging a goal as his side finished in 7th place.
