The game is always a spicy affair and this year is no exception. AC Milan stopper Christian Abbiati cranked up the pressure by announcing he is ‘disappointed’ with Inter Head Coach Leonardo for crossing the divide from AC to Inter late last year. Whilst several high profile players including Ronaldo, Clarence Seedorf and Roberto Baggio have switched teams, this path is not well trodden by coaches.
Leonard has been playing it cool by claiming the ‘derby is not crucial’ – we expect few people in Milan will be thinking along those lines when the ref blows his whistle.
Despite AC Milan leading the way, they have endured a tricky run of games and have yet to win since their last three matches. In the mean time, Inter has found their form at the right time. With stars like Samuel Eto’o and Wesley Sneijder leading the line, Inter is well placed to chase AC Milan right down to the wire!
