Uruguay

Small Yet Mighty

Uruguay may be a small nation (as in population 4 million), but their countless trophies prove the enormity of their heart and the intensity of their fight. Uruguay won more international titles (19) in the 20th century than any other country in the world and shares this record with Argentina. They were the first team to win the FIFA World Cup™, which they hosted in 1930. In 1980, Uruguay hosted and won the Mundialito – a tournament among former World Cup™ champions to celebrate the tournament’s 50th anniversary. Los Charrúas are natural born fighters. In recent years, they’ve battled back to the top of the world with their young players—their performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and their final victory at the Copa America 2011 are proof positive.
