Monumento as Bandeiras

The ‘Monumento as Bandeiras’. The statue stands at 50m long and 16m high and sits handsomely in Ibirapuera Park, Sao Paulo’s equivalent of New York’s Central Park. Translated directly it means “Monument to the flags” and it pays homage to the Portuguese settlers who invaded Brazil four centuries ago. I am feeling very small by comparison!
