While Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa focused on their warm-weather training in Lanzarote earlier this week, Ferrari headquarters in Maranello was deluged by snow. With the all-important unveiling of the F2012 scheduled to take place today, the Ferrari drivers had to leave their training canoes on the beach and after flying to Italy, take specially-prepared Grand Cherokke SRT8 Jeeps to make the snow-bound journey to the factory.

Having won in Korea last year, Fernando Alonso and PUMA’s partner team Scuderia Ferrari arrived in the Asian country for the second Korean Grand Prix with high hopes for a strong result, particularly as the combination had finished a close second in the previous week’s Japanese Grand Prix.

This seems to be a week of congratulations: Since I last blogged from Suzuka, Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing have secured a second consecutive world drivers’ championship, and equally significantly – certainly from my own perspective - is that PUMA has announced a new partnership with MERCEDES GP PETRONAS and Michael Schumacher.
