Montreal Grand Prix: The PUMA Perspective

    June 19, 2011

When reflecting upon the last three races in Montmelo (Spain), Monte Carlo (Monaco) and Montreal (Canada), one thing stands out: PUMA’s partner team Ferrari was right up there on each occasion, and could conceivably have won (or at least taken podium places) in each event had not unfortunate circumstances conspired against the Italian team.

The race was struck off the calendar in 2009, and that was when Montreal realised the city can’t do without Formula 1, and Formula 1 realised it can’t do without Canada.

Obviously this weekend is a big occasion for PUMA’s partner team Ferrari, simply as Fernando Alonso is mega here, as a local hero and as previous winner of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. That in itself puts a lot of pressure on the team, but here are two factors which further increase it: first, the fact that a fortnight ago in Turkey Alonso scored the team’s first podium of the year, which means a race win is the next on the list of expectations. Let’s be honest: the team needs to win soon.

    Eddie Jordan: Turkey Preview

    May 06, 2011

Just two full weeks between the previous race in China and the first European grand prix here in Turkey, yet so much has happened I don’t even know where to start! I say ‘European’ despite the race not actually being run on European soil, but in the Asian part of the country, but it feels like a European event rather than a flyaway.
