1. Botafogo de Futebol e Registas, to give the club its full name, has three nicknames, all of them brilliant. Thy are the Great Fire, the Lone Star and The Glorious One

2. The club have three main rivals, all located in Rio. Fluminese, Flamengo and Vasco de Gama.

3. The first mascot of Botafogo was none other than Donald Duck, while nowadays Briba, a dog thought to be a lucky charm in the 1940s, has been adopted by fans.

5. Botafogo have played at several stadiums, including the world famous Maracanã. In 1912, they had to play in a field for a season, but now reside at the spectacular Estádio Olímpico João Havelange
