Despite enjoying much of the early possession, City found themselves a goal down after just four minutes when their La Liga visitors finished from close range after the goalkeeper had parried.
Just before the break, the home side somewhat fortuitously grabbed the equaliser their approach play deserved. An inviting cross from out wide seemed destined for one of the City strikers, but the visiting defender got their first; diverting the ball beyond his own keeper to level things up.
Cometh the man, cometh the hour and the introduction of Sergio Agüero as a half-time substitute spurred the home side into action, with the South American super star demonstrating his wide range of passing and ability to run with the ball.
Agüero has been a revelation since signing and changed the pace of the game. With the encounter heading for a stalemate after a fantastic defensive performance from the visitors, Agüero found space and arrived at the far post to grab a goal and earn his side their first Champions League victory.
The game highlighted City’s European credentials and we want to know if Agüero can lead his club to their first taste of European success?
