Hail To The King

King%201986

Since its birth, the King Boot has been an iconic part of the Puma Collection, and it’s the only permanent member.

The first King boots were made in 1968 as an homage to Eusébio winning the 1966 FIFA Golden Boot.

Worn by some of the greatest players on this planet, during some of the most notable moments in football history; it was the boot that Pelé wore when he cemented his legendary status, as the King of 1970 and led Brazil to a FIFA World Cup™ Finals win as well as being named ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the World Cup in Mexico.

Four years later the King of 1974 was a certain Johan Cruyff who was named ‘Player of the Tournament’, and ‘European Player of the Year for the second time in a row and showed the world what total football meant.

It was also the boot that Maradona had on his feet when he was the King of 1986 and went down in  history as he passed six players to score, what has been voted ‘The Goal of the Century’.

The competition to be a King of the beautiful game, is tougher than ever. More players combined with advanced technology and training methods create higher standards for the next kings to live up to and beat.

Today, together with the launch of the new King collection, PUMA celebrates the Kings of today as well as the Kings to come, who are already shining in their own kingdoms.  Like the goalie who plays in the suburbs of Eastern Newcastle that hasn’t conceded a goal in over 90 minutes who is the King of 90 Minutes. Or the striker from Rome who scored an amazing two hat tricks, two games in a row and is the King of Double Hat Trick. Calling out skills on and off the field, PUMA will pay homage to different types of Kings, so if you’ve ever had the desire to let the world know about your regal football pedigree, head over to the PUMA Facebook page to create a poster highlighting your skill.

Never forget, there is a King within all of us.

PUMA KING and PUMA LIGA are the best cleats ever made. Too bad PUMA discontinue the LIGA's cause they were great boots also....especially the six studded ones.

God Save The King! Really since i was a kid, I never found an impressive brand like PUMA, it is really one-of-a-kind. Please keep innovative but i hope you consider many issues, like keep high quality and technology with reasonable prices. It sure is great. Viva PUMA!

These were the best I ever had fitted like a glove,Never let in water, light weight, robust and different because of the yellow detail to the pele king . Jeff k.

Puma is King. There is no sports brand that compares. You can take your Nike's and your Adidas's wherever you want, There is only one King. Diego showed that in '86
