Ryan Bailie: Out onto the run I found my rhythm quickly and found the run legs I have been searching for in my races earlier this season. With the brutal nature of the run course in Mooloolaba I was cautious with pacing as I wanted to have a strong back end to the race where a lot of people start to battle and places can be made up. With this in mind, I kept to my rhythm and plan and left nothing out on course crossing the line in 17th place.
As this race doubled as the Australian Champs, I ended up finishing 3rd (Australian), which is the first time I've been on the podium for a national senior title. Upon reflection I am satisfied with the outcome of the race though there is still plenty to take away to work on so I can get to that next level. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives. I learned a lot from the swim; the experience will make me a better swimmer in future races! And I found a lot of encouragement in my run leg. I am improving with every race.
Thanks again for sending out the PUMA Faas 300s. They are one great racing flat! One of the best flats I have raced in.
