Marta Wins Michelle Akers Player of the Year Award for Second Straight Season

PUMA Athlete Marta of FC Gold Pride has won the Michelle Akers Player of they Year award for the second straight year.  In addition, Marta has also won the PUMA Golden Boot award designating her as the league’s leading scorer for the second year in a row.

Scoring 19 goals in 24 games, Marta has lead FC Gold Pride throughout the season and helped them earn the title of WPS 2010 regular season champs.  She was selected as WPS player of the Week three teams in a season that will reach its conclusion on September 26th with the WPS Championship.  With the regular season title in their pocket, FC Gold Pride will take on the winner of the Super Semi Final game being played on Thursday, September 23d when Boston and Philadelphia will play for a spot in the finals.
