There's plenty to digest before the bikes even head out on track on Friday morning for the first practice session. Jorge Lorenzo, the 2010 champion and current leader in the standings, has just signed a new two-year contract extension with Yamaha as the first piece of the 2013 puzzle falls into place.
Now that the Spaniard has his ride for the next two seasons sorted out, can he focus even more on trying to reclaim the MotoGP crown from 2011 champion Casey Stoner who trails him by 20 points?
Stoner and his Honda factory team-mate Dani Pedrosa have so far not enjoyed themselves when trying out the new specification front slick tyres that have been on offer since Jerez. However, from Silverstone onwards the pair will have to adapt to them as they will no longer be an option but the standard front offering from here on in. Can Pedrosa claim his first win of the season despite that, or can Stoner close the gap to Lorenzo with his first win since the third round in Portugal?
Then of course there is Cal Crutchlow, the Tech 3 rider who has had the best start to a season in MotoGP by a Brit since Ron Haslam way back in 1987! Can the Isle of Man-based rider get his first podium and send the home crowd into a frenzy
And British fans love Valentino Rossi, but who doesn't? Everywhere he goes the nine-times world champion is greeted with feverish support. The Italian described his last race in Catalunya as his best in the dry on the Ducati to date, so with such positive sounds being made can he spring a surprise on the Desmosedici in the UK?
