When you’re in NYC, what are the best routes to get the most out of your run? We’ve mapped out a few of our favorites.
Central Park: In a jungle of concrete, steel and skyscrapers, Central Park stands out as an emerald gem, and the trails running through it are no less spectacular. With hills, level stretches, scenic landscaping and historic sights, Central Park has a great mix of everything a runner could love on a trail.
New York City Marathon course: There’s a reason New York’s marathon draws the largest number of world-class runners year after year. Starting in Staten Island, the course route stretches through all five city boroughs and takes runners through many of the city’s must-see sights.
Lower Manhattan: From Chelsea Piers, through Battery Park, down into the Financial District or even over the Brooklyn Bridge, Lower Manhattan offers some of the best views of New York. With dedicated trails, runners can be free to open up their strides without worrying about city traffic.
Astoria Park: Astoria Park in Queens may not be as well known as Central Park, but the area definitely has its own charms. With a full quarter-mile track, Olympic-sized swimming pool, welcoming trails and great views of the city, Astoria Park is a hidden treasure for New York runners.
