Newcastle & Spurs in Thrilling Draw

Newcastle left it late to grab a draw with Tottenham in yesterday’s eagerly anticipated clash of the PUMA teams!

After some entertaining passages of play in which both sides went close to taking the lead, Spurs broke the deadlock from the penalty spot following the Newcastle captain’s mistimed challenge.

In the second-half Newcastle put their opponents under pressure and were rewarded on 48 minutes when their star Senegalese striker volleyed home following a surging run and cross. But the visitors continued to play well and attack with purpose; and once again took the lead on 72 minutes with a fine strike from outside the area.

Ryan Taylor went close to grabbing another equaliser for Newcastle with a long range drive, but with time running out, the Geordies once again showed the determination and commitment which has characterised their campaign. With the home side piling men forward, the ball fell nicely to Newcastle’s striker who controlled the ball well and fired a low shot past the Spurs keeper.

Just as both sides played out an entertaining draw back in January, the two teams again had to settle for a point each as Newcastle twice came from behind to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

There was little to separate the teams in yesterday’s encounter, but we’d love to hear who you are backing to finish higher in the Premiership?
