Many of the squad go into the tournament fresh off the back of successful club seasons; after Irish sides performed heroically to win both the Magners Premier League and Heineken Cup. The squad is immensely talented and strikes the perfect balance between the fast, creative and exciting backline and the strong, aggressive and powerful forwards.
PUMA Rugby stars Jamie Heaslip, Luke Fitzgerald, Gordon D’Arcy, David Wallace, Tomas O’Leary, John Hayes, Tommy Bowe and Andrew Trimble will no doubt be causing opponents to have sleepless nights in weeks to come – and we’re fully expecting them to shine brightly against the USA in the opening fixture.
The Irish are renowned for their ability to unlock the best defences in the world with their vision, movement and passing, whilst simultaneously keeping the best attackers at bay. However, Ireland will have to be disciplined, keep their shape and dictate the pace of play, a trio of problems that have been their undoing at past tournaments.
Ireland have never gone further than the semi-finals before, but with a squad packed full of skill and experience, coupled with a slice of that famed Irish luck, there is every chance of them giving the fans back home something to cheer about!
How will the boys get on in New Zealand?
