The Making of Maradona's Birthday Cake - Day 1

In the very early morning, I met the known cake maker Eduardo Ruiz at the school where he teaches people of all ages to bake the most delicious cakes. Eduardo is making a truly important birthday cake.  Diego Armando Maradona's 50th birthday cake.

At the school, he picks up all the ingredients to make what is to become a very meaningful gift.  
Eduardo feels blessed for being able to celebrate Maradona's birthday with a creation of his own.  
Fifty is a landmark, even more so for the greatest of all Argentinean legends.

We march through the endless halls of the baking school, enter refrigerators the size of small apartments, and begin planning out what is to become our present to Maradona.
