The Welsh Wizard To Retire

Shane Williams will play his 87th Test match against the Wallabies in front of 60,000+ adoring Welsh fans in the hope of avenging the defeat that saw Australia snatch third place from the Welsh dragons with the narrowest of victories (18 – 21) at the end of October. Inspired by the Welsh wing, Wales were outstanding for much of this year’s World Cup and arguably as good as the side that beat Australia in the inaugural 1987 third place play-off which secured Wales best ever finish at the tournament.

Shane will leave the Welsh national side with an array of incredible achievements behind him – he is now the top try scorer in Welsh history, third highest try scorer in Test rugby history (59), the third highest try scorer in Six Nations history, the first ever Welsh International Player of the Year in 2008, winner of two Grand Slams in 2005/2008 and British and Irish Lion on four occasions!

Shane Williams will no doubt be remembered as one of the greatest ever wingers in the history of the sport as a result of his scorching pace, evasive running skills and tricky footwork that have left defences for dead for a decade and wowed millions of fans all over the world in the process.
