We get closer to the World Cup with the player perspective from two of Ireland’s finest exclusively for PUMA Rugby! Here’s what Tommy Bowe and Jamie Heaslip had to say prior to their final Pool game against Italy on Sunday...

Tommy Bowe

Looking forward to what is going to be a huge game for Irish rugby this weekend, the prospect of finishing top of our group is something we as a squad have been confident of achieving, but know with the Italians exactly what a tough game we have coming. Earlier in the year we were pushed right to the end and if it wasn’t for Ronan’s drop goal we would have lost to the Italians. They are looking very promising at the moment so we are preparing for a huge clash this weekend.

On another side, we are now in Dunedin. The weather has been fantastic, there are plenty of coffee shops around to keep us busy and morale in the squad is sky high. Day off tomorrow with some guys going golfing, fishing and the likes of Jamie off shopping!

Bring on the game Sunday and can’t wait to see the Green Army of supporters arrive in convoy later this week!!

Jamie Heaslip

Good squad effort at the weekend. Scored some good tries and held it together when the game opened up and got loose. Was good to get some ball this week. Always like it when games go that way. Sometimes you gotta do a lot of dog work. All you can do is play the game.

Big challenge this weekend. Everybody in the squad is looking forward to it! A must win and a lot at stake. Confident in our ability. We just have to be accurate and disciplined! Inside this week too so no doubt the noise from our supporters will lift the roof off!
Can Ireland top Pool C?
