The 2010 PUMA Mile

On Friday, April 16, 2010, at the 52nd Annual Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, CA, eight women and 15 men prepared for the start of the most exciting and unique event of the night - The PUMA Mile. The winner would leave the Hilmer Lodge Stadium track with a $10,000 sponsorship contract with PUMA. The event was like nothing the athletes had ever been apart of. The women started 29 seconds ahead of the men but only one runner would become the PUMA Mile Champion. Crowds lined the track with cowbells and thunder sticks as the gun sounded for the start of the women's race. The men continued to stand back for what felt like the longest 29 seconds of their lives. When the men's started the crowd erupted. The first one to cross the finish line - male or female - would be the PUMA Mile Champion. Check out the race to see what happened . . .
