Leg 1 RETIRED: South Atlantic Ocean

PUMA's Mar Mostro suffered a broken mast on November 21, 2011 during the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12.

 At approximately 18:00 GMT on November 23, the container ship Zim Monaco arrived to deliver 450 litres of diesel fuel to PUMA's Mar Mostro. It was determined by Mar Mostro crew and shore team that diesel was necessary for survival - with it the crew can make fresh water and continue under motor power toward the island of Tristan da Cuhna.
