Around Alicante

It's been a busy week in Alicante for our shore team. Locals have gotten an up close view of our team at work via the new public walkway into the shore operations area. Mar Mostro is schedule to go back in the water tomorrow, our sailors return from break Saturday and we are nine days away from the In-Port Race, the first time points will be scored in the 2011-12 edition of the Volvo.

Alicante thus far has provided the perfect setting for the start of the Volvo Ocean Race. The race village opened last Friday, along with the PUMA Quad retail shop and PUMA Social Club. Our Social Club has hosted children's activities such as Marmo storytime, daily Happy Hours from 16:00-20:00, local musical artists. It is the place to been seen at in the race village.

As of yesterday, the PUMA stand-up paddle board demos were up and running on Postiguet Beach, a short walk from the race village. The demos are free, open to the public, and are a great opportunity to get out on the water. Demos are being run each day from 10:30 until 5:00.
