The new Volvo Ocean Race trophy made an appearance at PUMA's head quarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Traveling from Alicante, the new trophy, as well as the race simulator were set-up at PUMA's brand center for viewing by staff from around the world in town for company meetings.
Redesigned for the 2011-12 race, the trophy is made from aluminium and silver plate. It represents the 37,000 miles race with a heritage of 37 years sailing around the world. On each ring, the winner of the past editions of Volvo Ocean Race and Withbread race (former name of the Volvo Ocean Race) is engraved with the name of the boat and the route sailed.
