Fresh from booking his place in the Copa Del Rey semi-final Cesc Fàbregas is back in La Liga action tomorrow. Second plays seventeenth in the clash of the weekend and when the Spanish maestro takes the field, for FC Barcelona’s trip to Villareal, he’ll be sporting the previously unseen black and lime PowerCat 1.12 boots.
Barça go into the game needing a win if they are to keep the pressure on league leaders Real Madrid. If Barcelona are to overhaul their rival’s five point lead at the top of the table and defend their title, they’ll need to build on their three game winning streak and put together a remarkable run until the end of the season. For most teams this would be a tall order, especially as Barça are missing key personnel Alexis Sanchez and Andres Iniesta through injury. But most teams aren’t reigning World Club Champions. Cesc believes there’s no reason why they can’t be successful saying, ‘There can be no excuses. We are FC Barcelona. We have to give our best and push on.’
Fàbregas will have fond memories of Villareal having never lost to them during his time in England or Spain. He even scored against them when Barça thrashed them 5-0 on the opening day of the season. But the Catalan giants shouldn’t take them lightly. The Yellow Submarines have picked up 16 of their 19 points at home this season and are unbeaten in their last five matches at El Madrigal. Despite their lowly league position, following a disappointing start to the season, they’re on a high following a return to winning ways in their last match against Sporting Gijon.
With Iniesta missing with a torn hamstring, Barcelona will be looking to Fàbregas to be at his creative best something Cesc is looking forward to. He says, ‘When I play further forward, I have more mobility and that's a role I can handle’. Whether Villareal will be able to handle Cesc and his PUMA 3D DUO Power Shooting Technology now he’ll be playing closer to their goal remains to be seen.
But Villareal won’t be the only team in Europe facing PUMA stars wearing the new colourway. Phil Jones and Michael Carrick will also be debuting the black and lime PUMA Powercat 1.12 boots in the FA Cup in Manchester United’s fierce tie against Liverpool. That’s bad news for the Anfield outfit.
